THE GREYS

THE GREYS
The Greys appear at the edges of the Silicon Psychosis story.
They are connected to experiences, memories and ideas that cannot easily be separated into fact and interpretation.
This page gathers the traces and leaves their significance unresolved.
THE IMAGE
The Grey is a modern cultural image: humanoid, grey-skinned, large dark eyes, usually encountered in accounts of UFOs and abduction. The artist's Dream Man memory contains some of the same visual features.
PERSONAL MEMORY + CULTURAL CONTEXTWHEN THE IMAGE ENTERS THE ARCHIVE
The exported conversations connect the Dream Man with possible alien abduction and later UFO research. The artist does not present the connection as established fact; it is part of an investigation into how an early memory was subsequently understood.
This creates two directions of causality. Perhaps the later UFO vocabulary helped explain an older image. Or perhaps the vocabulary reshaped the memory itself.
THE POTTER CONNECTION
Clive Potter's writing later offered another way to think about Greys: not simply as nuts-and-bolts extraterrestrials, but as possible manifestations or archetypal intermediaries within a wider theory of collective consciousness.
That theory became relevant to the artist because it allowed the Grey image to be investigated psychologically, culturally and metaphysically without forcing a single conclusion.
WHAT THE ARCHIVE CAN SAY
The archive can establish that the Grey image is part of the artist's remembered experience and later research. It cannot establish the ontological status of the beings described by UFO culture.
