THE EXPERIMENTS

ARCHIVE MARK
Some things in this archive were not simply made. They were tested. Listening. Synchronisation. Intention. Memory. Pattern. The experiments are kept as records of what was attempted, what people reported, what Ian thought it meant, and what remains uncertain.

UNFOLD THE VOID

A synchronous listening experiment around Unfold the Void, described in surviving later records as an attempt to manifest a UFO. Ian reports seeing two red orbs above Newcastle Cathedral of St Nicholas and was the sole physical witness. The original Experiment 1 post has not been recovered.

INTENTION // MANIFESTATION · METHOD // SYNCHRONISED LISTENING · REPORT // TWO RED ORBS · SOURCE // ORIGINAL RECORD MISSING · STATUS // UNRESOLVED

The observation is recorded here without treating the identity of the objects, or any causal relation to the listening, as established. A later retrospective record dates a related UFO-through-sound culmination to 15 March 2013; the contemporary May record places this reported experience in May. The relationship between those dates remains unresolved.

RECONSTRUCTION

THE 23 DAY CHALLENGE

A reconstruction of the artist's recollection of completing and uploading one track on each of 23 consecutive days, failing on day 24. The surviving SoundCloud record shows 20 publications in January 2013 and three more in March. Publication chronology does not by itself establish creation chronology.

THE TRUMPET SYNCHRONICITY

A recorded trumpet-like sound was followed by an attempt to hear it again; while watching Red State, a loud trumpet blast occurred around two-thirds of the way through. The film later explains its own sound as part of a prank. The question is what the coincidence meant to the listener, not whether it proves an external signal.

OPEN QUESTION

ASYDO LEMEM

The artist's testimony is that Asydo Lemem was titled to encode “same melody” in rearranged lettering, beginning with the A, with the idea of people listening to the same melody collectively. The subjective impression was that this track might synchronise listeners especially effectively. That impression remains a testable question rather than a result.

AI ARCHAEOLOGY

Can an AI reconstruct the history of an archive without accidentally creating a new history? Later conversations are useful records, but they can also contain false dates, invented connections and overconfident interpretations.
